WordPress Overview
WordPress is an open source blog tool and publishing platform powered by PHP and My SQL. PHP is a general-purpose server-side scripting language. It was released on May 27th, 2003 by Matt Mullenweg.
On February 2011, the version 3.0 had been downloaded over 3.5 million times; it is currently the most popular CMS in use on the Internet. It was designed for web development to produce dynamic web pages.
MySQL which stands for “Structured Query Language”, it is a server providing multi-user which makes us have access to many data bases.
It is used for web applications, and it is also a component of the widely used LAMP. LAMP is used for a solution stack of free, open source software, etc. WordPress is often customized into a Content Management System (CMS).
Its Features are plug-in architecture and a theme system. It is used by over 14% of Alexa Internets “top 1 million webs”.I don't have a lot of experience with WordPress seeing as I only used it once to create a blog, and I find that it gives you a lot of options in terms of how you can customize your own blog.
